DJI Mini 4 Pro Gains MSDK Support: A Win for Drone Developers

March 17, 2025 – Drone enthusiasts and developers have reason to celebrate today as DJI officially released the Mobile Software Development Kit (MSDK) support for the DJI Mini 4 Pro. This long-awaited update, rolled out around one year and six months after the drone’s September 25, 2023 launch, opens new doors for third-party app development and custom automation.

The Mini 4 Pro, a sub-250g powerhouse known for its 4K/60fps HDR video and omnidirectional obstacle sensing, has been a favorite among hobbyists and pros alike. Until now, however, its lack of MSDK support limited its potential for advanced programming, leaving pilots reliant on DJI’s native DJI Fly app. With this release, the drone joins the ranks of models like the Mini 3 Pro, which gained MSDK compatibility in April 2023, and promises to unlock features like enhanced flight planning and integration with popular 3rd party apps, like AirHub.

According to the release notes on DJI’s developer website, the Android MSDK v5.13.0, launched today, officially adds support for the Mini 4 Pro alongside the DJI Matrice 4D and Matrice 4TD.

For Mini 4 Pro owners, this means more than just new tricks—it’s a step toward rivaling the capabilities of DJI’s enterprise drones, all while keeping that sub – 799 EUR price tag (MSDK compatibility with the DJI RC N2 remote controller). Stay tuned for hands-on insights as developers dig into what this update can do. For now, it’s clear: the Mini 4 Pro just got a whole lot smarter.
