ImmersionRC vs. Eachine ET600 600mW vs. Aomway 200mW

5.8GHz video transmitters

I have used the ImmersionRC 600mW 5.8GHz video transmitter on my FPV quadcopter for a while. Its only 7 channel transmitter, but is perfectly compatible with my FatShark Attitude goggles. As I constantly try to optimize the weight and size of my FPV quad, I decided to try the Eachine ET600 and Aomway 200mW video transmitters.

Weight:

  • ImmersionRC 600mW – 16 grams
  • Eachine ET600 – 7.1 grams
  • Aomway 200mW – 6.5grams

All transmitters have a 5V output, so you can easily power your FPV camera. There are slightly differences among the input voltage. The ImmersionRC and the Aomway can be powered with a 6S LiPo battery. The Eachine ET600 is rated for 7-23V input voltage, so please don’t use it with a 6S battery.

Changing the transmitting channel is either done with a dip switch or with a button on the Eachine. In my opinion it is way more easy with the button and the LED indicators. Both the Eachine and the Aomway are transmitting a full range of 32 channels, so I can use them with my goggles too.

The Eachine unlike the others uses a RP-SMA connector. You either need to use the included antenna or buy one with a RP-SMA connector.

I have tested all transmitters with a 3S LiPo battery and all of them are getting very hot. I got more than 100 °C on the Eachine and about 100 °C  with the Aomway. Not sure if this is, because I have powered the camera from the 5V output, but it is simply not good in a long term. I am thinking to put some heat sink to reduce the heat. Sure the airflow will help for that too.

I haven’t done a real range test yet, but some people on the RCGroups measured the output of the Eachine ET600 on channel E4 (5645MHz) and it was truly about 600mW. But they haven’t got so good results on the ImmersionRC channels.

Conclusion: If you don’t want to buy new RP-SMA SpiroNET antennas get the Aomway 200mW. And If you like the button for switching the channels and necessarily need a 600mW video transmitter go for the Eachine ET600.
